Why do I need a website?
The growth of the Internet means that more and more people seek information by this method. How often have you wanted to find out about something and used an Internet Search Engine, e.g. Google, to seek the answer? Chances are that the Internet helped you discover what you were after. Your own website offers people the chance to find out about your company and organisation and is also a simple way for you to pass on information to a worldwide audience or to selected audiences, via password protected areas, saving you time and money communicating in other ways. A website is a very cost-effective means of advertising and the actual cost of setting up a commercial website will inevitably be met by the extra sales the site will generate.

What is a Domain Name?
A domain name is the unique name that identifies an Internet site, e.g. www.yourcompany.co.uk. At Longhedge Web Design we will investigate which suitable domain names are available for your company and advise you accordingly. Prices will vary depending on the URL suffix (e.g. .co.uk or .com), but once registered they only require renewing either every year or every other year. Longhedge Web Design will ensure that your URL never expires unless specifically requested.

Will I need to get a new e-mail address?
If you already have an e-mail address that you use there is absolutely no reason why you should not retain it. If you would prefer to take advantage of the e-mail forwarding service that is provided with all of our web design packages, Longhedge Web Design can create e-mail addresses based on your chosen URL that will effectively forward any e-mail to your existing e-mail address. We will even advise you on how best to set up your preferred e-mail programme to ensure that people see you business e-mail address when you send them a message. Alternatively, you may decide to purchase specific e-mail addresses that are totally independent of your current e-mail address.

How many pages will I need on my website?
This is the most complex question to answer simply because this will vary from site to site and will depend largely on the content of the site. At Longhedge Web Design we will consult closely with you form the outset and advise you on how many pages we feel that the site needs. We believe that there is no merit in producing a site with 5 pages that requires users to scroll through pages and pages of text as this is more likely to turn people away from your site.
